Principal’s Message

Another exciting year is upon us. Our teachers and staff were very well prepared for the opening day and students were working hard from the opening bell. This will be an exciting and memorable year with numerous events and opportunities planned for our students.

We had a very successful summer program and an equally successful back-to-school night. A big thanks to all those who participated in these events and a big thanks to all those who continue to support Provost through involvement, service, or donation. Your support does make a difference!

Our school marks for academics last year were stellar—right at the top of the district. The combination of highly motivated students, expert teachers, and parents, who support the educational process at home, make for wonderful results. I hope each member of the Provost educational community truly appreciates the gem of a school we have.

Parents, as you meet with teachers during the SEP process at the end of this week, be sure you know how your child performed on end-of-year tests last spring. Your teacher can assist you in formulating an effective strategy for your child to catch- up if the need exists. Some extra study time outside the normal school day is beneficial for children on any academic level, but particularly important for children who are behind academically. A little extra time spend in educational pursuits with your child at home is not only enjoyable and rewarding now but will pay big dividends for them later.

We expect construction to commence soon on the new classrooms, however, with construction also comes challenges. Hopefully the work will go smoothly and quickly but we will need to be patient with the impact construction will have on our normal routines. The construction job is currently out to bid and once accepted construction will begin very shortly after.

Preparations are going nicely for our before and after-school programs. Look for information on specialty classes and after school academic assistance programs in this newsletter, in the display case, and in fliers sent with students.

Thanks,
Dr. Oliverson
